This little boy is an adorable Poodle/Spaniel mix that will make you smile. He is about 11 lbs and 8 months old. This little cutie pie has a unique look, but could not be sweeter. He has long skinny legs and a spaniel head, but his petite body is all poodle! He is as cute as can be and follows the kennel workers all over. He gets along great with the other dogs and would love to go to a home with another dog. He also loves to play appropriately with everyone. This pooch will make a wonderful pet for any home.

This handsome boy is about 1-2 years old and around 62 lbs. He is very friendly and outgoing and just loves to be with people. A big lovebug, he’ll try to snuggle with you and, if you let him, will snooze flat on his back in the middle of the bed. He is great with kids and other dogs too. He is strong on leash but is improving every day. His foster mom reports that he is very curious and expressive and can’t do enough tail-wagging. He can be a little mischievous, but he listens well and is eager to please. He loves chasing balls and is content just chewing his toys and curling up in his bed. Housebroken too.

Jack is an adorable 3 year old, 29 lb purebred Jagdterrier (pronounced YAHK terrier), a rare German dog bred for its ability to hunt both above and below ground. Jack is intelligent, affectionate and devoted, and loves making his master happy. A true working terrier, he needs lots of time and room to run and exercise, and can entertain himself for hours searching for small critters. Ideally he will find a forever home with a large property or farmland for him to do what he was bred to do, but a daily excursion to a large dog-park will suffice. Jack was owned by a wealthy family with a large compound and spent much of his time outdoors; he was abandoned when they relocated overseas. Jack gets along well with other dogs but would probably prefer to be a solo pet. Young children are not recommended. He is neutered, housebroken, good on the leash and in the car and knows basic commands. After a busy day Jack likes nothing better than to curl up for a good snuggle and a belly rub. Luckily, a caring neighbor immediately reached out to American Fox Terrier Rescue so that we could save her. She’s spayed, up to date on all routine shots, housebroken, walks well on a leash, gets along with other dogs, is fine w/cats, and meets and greets all people with an exuberant wag of her tail. is about 2 yrs old. He looks like a lab mix and is approximately 50lbs. Jake lives with a family of 6 with 4 girls ranging in age from 4 to 12, and he is excellent with them. He is very tolerant and affectionate, and we have never feared him harming them in any way. Jake has been to obedience school and is a very quick learner. He has been trained on our invisible fence and has learned any trick/command we have endeavored to teach him, such as sit, lay etc... He has never peed or pooped in our house since he was a puppy, and lets us know whenever he needs/wants to go out by standing patiently at the door, or tapping it with his paw. We are very fortunate that jake uses a wooded area of our property as his restroom, and thus requires minimal cleaning up after. Jake tends to want to go to sleep for the night around 8 or 9 pm, and wakes around 8 or 9 in the morning, though he jumps up to go out with any of us if we go outside during that time. He is well behaved and has never ever taken food from a table or countertop, nor has he ever gotten into garbage in the house, even when it has been left temptingly within reach...thus he is really an excellent and well behaved dog.
Jake is very protective of our family and sounds an alarm whenever any strangers (including mailmen repairmen etc...) approach our property, and has also barked during the night on occasions when wild animals have gotten into our garbage. He can be somewhat threatening to strangers who have come on our property, and we have been concerned that he may bite them – especially when we are nearby, but he has never tried. I would say that he is a very good watch dog – although he probably would not try to do anyone harm, he will always at least let you know when anyone is around and do his best to intimidate strangers.
In addition to Jakes smarts and good behavior, he is also very affectionate and fun. He is filled with joy whenever any of us returns home from being out, and he loves to be petted from those of us he knows will offer it!
Due to financial reasons this family can't keep Jake. He would love to find another loving home.

Jake is a big old love who flops around with his oversized paws that he is waiting to grow into. He looks like the puppy from the Cottonelle commercial and is so beautiful it is difficult to take your eyes off of him. He is 12 weeks old, 25 lbs. and is a yellow lab/basset hound mix who loves playing with his brother and sister (Jesse and Joy) as well as with the four dogs in his foster family’s home. Java is a sweet, male poodle/spaniel mix about 10 pounds and approx. 2 years old. He gets along with the dogs in his foster home (big and small) and greets dogs nicely on his neighborhood walks. He is good with cats too! He is quiet in his crate and keeps it clean. He sleeps quietly through the night and rides in the car like a gentleman. He is housebroken. Java is a real love bug and will cuddle with you any chance he gets. UPDATE: After a week in a foster home, Java's personality is really starting to sparkle! He will sneak onto your lap at any opportunity. He will only bark when he joins in the chorus of his foster siblings. He loves meal times and just starting enjoy some toys. Great dog for hiking, walking or running with, yet can sit and entertain himself with his toys in the house. He is a shy dog and therefore, would not do well with little kids. Unfortunately, his owner passed away and he and his friends Rosebud and Sweetness ended up homeless. They are a little reserved at first, so we think older children or adult only homes would be best. Jax came all the way from Texas to find his forever home. Possibly a Min Pin mix, this 23 pound 2 yr old handsome boy is learning how to enjoy life in his foster home. He is quite shy but is warming up to "his" family and new two and four legged friends. His favorite activity is moving his toys (and anything else he can carry) from one room to another. Jay would make a wonderful addition to any family. He is a 6 yr old neutered male. We think he is a lab X. At 48 lbs he is easy to walk and enjoys just hanging out with you. Jay knows basic commands and does not have to be crated. He does not chew or soil in the house. He is better with female rather than male dogs but will adapt to the situation. She, along with the police, went to that home and removed him to safety. But all that is behind him now, and he is living the life, here at Petrescue. By spending time with people, learning kindness, and building trust, he now enjoys gentle petting. We are still getting to know Jay Z, but we think a quiet home in a quiet neighborhood is the perfect home for him…and a canine buddy in his forever home would be a plus. His foster mom says that he bonds easily, and she has learned that he is afraid of cats. All he needs is what we all need, patience, kindness and love. Jazzy is a 26 lb., one year old small Golden Retriever mix who is sweet, sweet, sweet just like Goldens are.. She is the perfect size and temperament, gets along well with other dogs and loves the air outside. Beware though that Jazzy loves to chew socks and paper, but fortunately can be redirected when given a toy. She is crate trained, sleeps through the night like an angel, is learning her housebreaking, walks well on the leash, knows sit and is working on other basic commands. With her big black eyes that pull you in Jazzy quietly sneaks up into your lap and curls up completely against your body for a nice nap. In fact, her foster family can't decide if she prefers kissing or being kissed, but knows she certainly loves both. He was left outside a trailer home without food or water for days when the owner moved and abandoned him like that. A kind neighbor finally noticed and took him to the shelter. He has gained weight now, but still eats like he might never see another meal. He is bouncy and friendly to a fault. He is about 3 months old and around 12 lbs.

Jewel is such a sweetheart, loves to be carried, to be in your lap, under your feet and genuinely always wants to be with her people. She gets along with her 2 furry foster siblings and is incredibly friendly at the dog beach, she seems to prefer the bigger dogs to play with. She is working on her potty training but is crate trained at night and also working on walking with a leash. Her favorite activity is watching squirrels and going for long walks. She is strong on the leash, but getting better each day. Jill also known as "Jilly Bean" is a really cute and affectionate 5 month old, 10lb Puggle mix full of lots of love. This little girl loves to play and can keep herself very happy. You will never see her without her tail wagging and she will always want to give you kisses. She is great with other dogs and seems not to mind the cats in her foster home as she just wants to play. She also seems to be housetrained as long as she is on a schedule. She loves to be outside and walks decent on the leash. From the foster mom herself "She's even cuter in person!"

She is a real lap dog and loves going with you wherever you go--especially for rides in the car. She likes other dogs her size (her foster home has two small dogs) and is great around the cats too. Because she's small she gets scared of bigger dogs. She should go to a home with no young children since she does not like strangers petting her until she warms up to them, which only takes a couple of minutes for her. She appears completely housetrained and walks well on the leash. She also fits right in the sink and is easy to bathe. Jillian is an easy dog and will quickly capture your heart!

If it's possible to be a mix of a Golden and a Dachshund, that's what Jimmy is. Thirty solid pounds, he's short and stout and has really soft fur. He's a sweet one-year-old boy with a shy and submissive disposition and gets along with everyone (dogs and cats included). He's very affectionate, loves to be petted and will easily jump in your lap if invited. So far he doesn't seem to bark although he did the cutest little howl when fire trucks went by. He also has a great paws-point-in stance - check out his photos. He is making progress with his housetraining and leash walking skills.

JJ is an amazing chocolate lab, about 3 1/2 years old with beautiful amber eyes. He is a complete cuddle bug that loves to lay on the couch with his foster mom. He is calm in the house, eats very well, has perfect manners, hasn't made any messes in the house, walks well on a leash, and knows how to sit and lay down. Not sure how he is with other dogs because there haven't been any interactions, but they do seem to excite him. He is also very attentive to other people when passing by. The car makes him a little nervous, but with time should get better. He is definitely a country dog, not a city dog. He is ok, but is much happier when not walking by a busy road. He's very sweet and is an all around great dog! He deserves the best home possible! How can you resist this gorgeous looking dog!

Jorita is absolutely amazing. She is calm and loving and likes to be held on her back like a baby, and enjoys being loved. Her foster family has taken her almost everywhere and she is just happy to tag along. She likes to sleep with her foster family, and is just one of the most chill dogs you will ever meet. She is mostly potty trained, and is a very quick learner. . Jorita is friendly with dogs, but will give a little growl if they are bothering her...and she mostly just ignores cats. She is very mellow and is not one to bark when she sees strangers, dogs or cats, and she doesn’t bark at any outside noise. Jorita loves to play, and finds squirrels very exciting. She absolutely loves cuddling all day. She loves her naps on the couch or bed, and is perfectly fine sleeping in her own bed as well. Josh is a handsome 7 1/2 year old Beagle who is as sweet as he is good looking. He loves a good long walk and is absolutely perfect on the leash. Josh never pulls and always has his nose to the ground looking for that extra-special scent. He has a wonderful temperment and only wants to be around people. He follows his foster family throughout the house lying quietly in the same room hoping for a quick pat or belly rub. He's a great size too, about 35 pounds and 15 inches tall. These 2 adorable puppies were dumped on the side of the road to fend for themselves. They have been to the vet and have gotten a clean bill of health. They are playful and happy pups. One is cuter and sweeter than the other. They are estimated to be about 12 weeks old, around 15 lbs and are mixes. At the park everybody was telling us that they look just like Goldendoodle pups. Bambi, the ligher colored one is the male. Sadie is a little darker and is a female. Both are VERY attached to each other and would make great pets for somebody.

Julie is one of the seven puppies whose name begins with "J". She is an adorable pup born on April 6th in a loving foster home. She is 7 weeks old and 6 lbs. She is very outgoing and loves to socialize with both adults and children. She enjoys playing with her siblings. Julie is already paper trained and only goes inside her pen. She sleeps through the night and snuggles up close to her siblings. She is ready for a home where she will be loved and cared for.

Julie is a 6 month old, bouncy Lab/Great Dane Mix. She was found at a gas station, sick and emaciated. But thankfully that's history and her world has changed for the better. She has gained weight and has begun to master the art of wrestling (and winning) with her doggie buddies. Julie loves her playtime and loves mealtime even more. She has embraced life and her energy is contagious, yet there are times that she wants to jump into your lap to be held. Julie is currently working on potty training and manners. Her perfect home will have adults and older children and a fur sibling or two for constant physical stimulation through active playtime. This sweet little girl was rescued by a kind lady and she has taken care of her since. Unfortunately when she moved, the new landlord would not let her keep the dogs (Romeo is from the same home). She sadly has to find a new home for her. Juliette is about 1 1/2 years old and around 25 lbs and has been lovingly taken care of. She is house broken and used to children. She is also good with other dogs and cats. She is very cuddly and loves to sit on top of the sofa, right behind your head.

June is a happy 6 month old husky/Shepard mix. She is about only 20 pounds, so is likely mixed with a smaller dog. She would make any family happy! She is housebroken and crate trained. She knows basic commands will fetch a ball or toy and will even give her paw (for a treat)! She loves to chew on her bones and annoy the cat in a silly way. June would love to be in a house with other pets and children! She is invisible fence trained too! June gets along well with everyone!

Junior
Junior is quite a guy and brings joy to his foster family. He is a small dog with a wonderfully calm yet playful personality. He has just gone through major surgery to repair a hip probably damaged in a car accident. Left untreated he could barely walk on that leg. His hip has been repaired and he is ready to go to his forever home. The doctors and staff who performed the surgery and took care of him afterwards were amazed at how even tempered and pleasant he was throughout the entire process. Junior lives with 6 other dogs and 2 cats in a very active household and he is fine with it all. He enjoys going for car rides, walks, and hikes as well as just playing in the back yard. He is also very happy curled up on a warm lap. Junior is about one year old and weighs in at 15 pounds. He has a very short coat but probably does shed.

He is a very submissive boy and gets a little timid at times, but warms up nicely and is ready to play. He rolls on his back for belly rubs and loves to snuggle when he is not busy playing. Jupiter
Jupiter is an adorable 11 week old special needs puppy. Although he was born deaf the foster home did not notice this until he was about 10 weeks old because Jupiter does not seem affected by his impairment and acts like a typical puppy. He is very sweet & friendly, is good with other dogs and cats and loves his chew toys and enjoys romping around in the backyard. His siblings Jewel, Juno, and Java have all been adopted and Jupiter is waiting patiently for a home of his own. His mom is a 16lb Pom mix, we do not know what the dad was, but believe that he will be a medium size dog. Deaf pups learn hand signals real quickly since dogs are more in tuned to body language than words anyway.
